Drying Time???

Hello Everyone,

Wishin' I was at the show to meet most of you and learn.

What is the average dry time of Rod Finish such as AFTCOTE and CLASSIC coat?

What are some suggestions of accuretly measuring both parts, besides syringes?

I have tried AFTCOTE and other finishes on test rods to practice and everytime I keep getting a soft finish, meaning I can push my nail into the finish. I have measured both parts in a mixing cup and with syringes, same results. The syringes gave me a more harder finish but still able to push my nail into the finish. The only finish that came out rock hard was Diamonite. I just don't like the low build up of that finish.

Please help. I can't out a more accurate way of measuring both parts.

Thanks,
TONY

When using a cup, mix with a flat popsicle stick, do not stir. fold the mixtures for about 3 minutes or until you can no longer see serration lines, pour mixtures on to a flat piece of aluminum foil. Then apply. the finish. The finish should be cured in 24 hours, at 75 degrees F. If you want a higher build up add another coat.

I put any finish I have used on usually in the evening and buy the morning they are dry and fairly hard. Cool place.
I take a Popsicle stick and break them in half long wise to mix with.
I also think the syringes are the better way to measure.
make sure you have a 50/50 mix !

When using syringes, make sure that you get all the air bubbles out, before doing your measurement. Mix at least 2 cc's of each. Mixing less quantity, leaves very little room for error. Just my 2 cents...
