OK...let me preface what follows with,"I know this topic has been beat to death."
I just finished up the last of my old stash of original Brilliance CP. I had stashed it so well, that I didn't dicover it until AFTER I bought 2 bottles of the 811. I received these several years ago, before the formulation change. I had bought alot of the Brilliance. :) I did a search for this topic, before getting started, to get a better understanding of 811 and thinning it, as I recalled alot of discussion and "controversy" surrounding the subject. Both bottles were sent in a plastic ziplock baggie and have been there since. When I opened the baggie, I noticed the volume was actually less than 1/2 of each 1 oz. bottle. Each still had a seal inside the yorker caps. I did combine the two bottles, and warmed the combined bottle in hot water. I then diluted it some with a bit of DNA. It looks thin enough to actually work with now. What was left when opened was extremely thick and viscous. Any ideas on where the solvent, or whatever went? Obviously, there are newer CPs on the market and I will give them a shot. I never had issues with FC and Trondak products. Just smaller than ideal quantities. LOL Thanks in advance and best wishes everyone. Chuck Re: Gudebrod811

Chuck, theer's no controversy - mix DNA until the CP is thinned enough that it's not too thick, and not watery. I would definitely remove some of the CP, this way if you thin it too much, you can at least thicken it back up. I also have a bottle of Brilliance2, which I'm still using ONLY on my own rods. the solvent evaporates leaving the solids behind, I just make sure when I use it to mix the proper amount of DNA so that the consistancy of the CP is where I like it.
YOu can always ship the CP up to me if you don't want it. Re: Gudebrod811

Billy,
Why did I know you would be the first, maybe second to respond? LOL I had already gone for that solution. I sure wish I had saved mine for myself, or bought more when I had the chance. If I had more, I would happily share some with ya. :) I have heard, and read, alot of good things about other makes out there. As I also stated, I have never had issues with FC or the Color Lock from Trondak. I just like to know what works and how well. I will be trying the Chromaseal next, for comparison purposes.
