I'm wanting to build a power wrapper since I can't afford to dish out the $300 or so for one. I've searched on here a bit and I haven't been able to find any plans for building your own. Does anyone have plans for one that they would want to share? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ~Jon There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind Re: buidling my own power wrapper.

I built my own rod wrapper and added a seperate Flex Coat wrapping motor setup to it. FlexCoat sells the wrapping motor on a stand seperately just for people like us who want to customize or power their wrapper. Check with @#$%&. They have the motors there. Re: buidling my own power wrapper.

Faztek has the bed material for a 3' section on 3" wide extrusion. Used sewing machine motor at the thrift Store for $10 (you will have to buy the whole machine, but the foot pedal speed control usually comes with it.) 3" chuck from Grizzly, Enco or Taig. The remainder of the parts are usually available at hardware stores. Re: buidling my own power wrapper.

I made my first power wrapper by just attaching a sewing machine motor & foot pedal
to my hand wrapper. Actually I just mounted the motor to an old coffee table at a height that accomodated my hand wrapper. Wasn't as pretty or easily adjustable as most but it got the job done. Sewing motors with attached foot controls can be found easily for not much $$ and a chuck attachement can be made with 2" PVC end caps and plastic bolts. Thanks for all the help guys. I really appreciate it. I'm gonna spend this weekend looking for the stuff to try and build one. I'll keep you guys posted on my results. ~Jon There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind Re: buidling my own power wrapper.

I built a power wrapper and the plans and the bill of materials is in the Rod Builder magazine. I used square aluminum tubing with aluminum angle for a base. Also built a hand wrapper and it is also in the magazine. Maybe these could give you a good idea. Would get one of the newer aluminum 3 jaw end though. Sure you can find these. Think they may help.
