I see on the CCS data page that this particular blank is well represented in number, I counted a sample of eight different blanks.
I also noticed that most of them have an ERN in the 4.5+ range. For those that have rods built on this blank, who's fishing it as a 3 weight and who's fishing it with a 4 weight line? Thanks, Andrew Viroqua, WI Re: Rainshadow RX7 IF793 7'9" 3wt

That's going to depend on the distance you're fishing. In really close, that blank would load very easily with a 5-weight line. Average distances a 4, perhaps a 3, and for very long distance casting certainly a 3, if you'd ever use it for such a thing.
Note the Action Angle too - very high AA numbers indicate a blank that can cast off the tip and this allows for a wider variety of line weights at close in distances. ................ Re: Rainshadow RX7 IF793 7'9" 3wt

I use mine mostly with a 6wt. because the length, power and action are similar to many vintage fiberglass and early graphite fly rods which I like but didn't want to pay the high price for. Works great for me since I also like to use a lot of bigger flies like streamers and the 6wt. line turns them over better. Plus this rod is much lighter in the hand than the vintage rods.
I also built one for a good friend who wanted a nice crisp 4wt. for dry fly fishing and he loves it. It's his favorite small stream trout rod. It all depends on how you want to use it and how you want it to feel. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
