Anyone have any experience with these blanks? I'm thinking about buying a few and I was wondering if they would make a decent walleye rod. I'm wanting something with a fast tip. I know that these are listed as moderate, but I figured I'd ask.
Thanks. ~Jon There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind Re: rainshadow SPG722

I built a rod for my little girl using the SPG723. It is a nice little rod but is fiberglass with a more moderate action. Great price and nice blank but I think there are some graphite blanks out there that would be more fast and crisp. Re: rainshadow SPG722

Give Karry Batson a call. He may have a better blank you are looking for. Remember not all manufactures rate their rods and blanks the same. Batson's are great people to work with.

You might want to look at the SB721, 6' Lt Power, Fast action, 6-12# line, Standard RX6 graphite.
Great bang for the buck. Here is a link; [www.schneidersrods.com] Best wishes, Ron Schneider Schneider's Rod Shop Mountain Home, Arkansas [www.schneidersrods.com] mtnron40@yahoo.com 870-424-3381 Re: rainshadow SPG722

I really like the SP721-2 blanks they work great for trout and for crappie for us. They are better to travel with than the one pcs. blanks. May want a little heavier rod for walleye. Re: rainshadow SPG722

I build lots of the 722's for walleye on Saginaw Bay. It is perfect for stacking 4 or more rods per side on big boards. The length makes them very easy to handle and get over one another while putting lines out or when a fish is hooked. If you so much as pick up a weed on any rod, it will tattle tale immediately. The action on these I would rate as slow, again perfect for big board use. Remember, walleye aren't really known to be scrappers, so the lack of power or line rating isn't an issue. Catch a 10# flathead on one of these and settle in for a long scuff. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
