Hi guys,

What polishing wax should I be using to really shine up a new high end rod I have just finished?

Thanks.

A good Hardwood floor wax. You can use pledge for touch up. Do not use a wax with cleaners. Also take a peice of tape to mark were the ferrual stops when attached You do not or I don't want any wax on the male end. Wax can cause dirt to get inside of thr female end. and cause damage.

I would use a good Carnuba base car wax that does NOT have any polishing agents in it. A can of a good one will almost last you a life time.

I use Meguiar's Deep Crystal System - Carnauba Wax. About $10 for a 16 oz bottle (lifetime supply).

It is a liquid and goes on easy. I put in onto a damp rag, wipe it on and then wipe it off. It does a great job and looks stellar. Do be sure that your epoxy is fully cured BEFORE doing something like this.

Be careful with any aerosol furniture polishes that contain silicone. Keep that stuff out of your finishing area.

Like chuck said no furniture polish any where around the rod building activities. I remember those fools i worked with who rigged the billfish lures , used pledge to put the skirts on the heads. Then they would come into the rod room and contaminate all the rods with thier silicon poisoned fingers.

I did not mean for them to spray Pledge in their rod working room. Do it outside. Change cloths and wash before going back in to rod room. I keep my finished rods in a seperate room
