Tony,
The best split shot rod blanks I have used are the new batson RX8 XSB822.5 or ISB822.5 Both are in stock at midwest rod and reel. XSB822.5 is not listed on web-site but I do have in stock e-mail or call for price. Bill@midwestrodandreel.com www.midwestrodandreel.com Re: Best Split Shot Rod Blank???

I'm assuming that you're talking about fishing small soft plastics about 18" below a small split shot. . .? I do that with a 3C69MLXF built as a spinning rod. It's a fantastic rod for that application. When I'm using very small weights, I'll drop down to a 3S66LF. Re: Best Split Shot Rod Blank???

Many SJ781's do a really nice job for split shotting, but American Tackle is my favorite because their SJ rods flex just a little more and are a lot nicer for fighting big fish on lite line.
Good Luck - Marc Re: Best Split Shot Rod Blank???

I'll agree with Bill on that choice the Rainshadow RX8+S823 would be the prefered choice, second would be the RX8 XSB822.5, and third the RX7 ISB822.5. But seriously the RX8+ S823 will make you slap your granny. Give Scott or Karen a call at Fishsticks, fine people. These blanks have the tip needed and pleanty backbone to pull fish from any structure your throwing around. Tony - any St. Croix 7 ft. ML will work well - pick any series that fits the budget - the series 4 & 5 are in a league of their own - but pricey. Re: Best Split Shot Rod Blank???

Tony:
All rod are generally listed by the line they use and How much weight they will throw. All you have to do is figure how much the shot and lure weighs and look for a blank to fit. That will get you in the ball park. Bill - willierods.com Re: Best Split Shot Rod Blank???
