Hello Everybody,
I've got a hard request and I'm hoping you can help. There is a technique that a famous west coast finesse bass angler Don Iovino made famous here called Doodlin'. What blanks would you recommend that would be a good rod for Doodlin'? Thanks, TONY Re: Best blank for Bass Fishing Technique????

Tony,
Don Lovino uses a 6 foot med lite spinning rod.The blank I would use is a Batson RX7 IC721. We have them in stock at midwest rod and reel. Bill@midwestrodandreel.com www.midwestrodandreel.com Re: Best blank for Bass Fishing Technique????

Tony - is this hard request intended for the doodle slide or the doodle drag? Either way - I would look hard at the St. Croix series 4 - ML, 6 1/2 ft cut down to 6' 2" or 6' 3". The slide is a cast followed by shakin' and slide. (spinning is best) The drag is a forward drop (usually deep) - followed by shakin' and drag - pull - free spool to bottom and repeat. (baitcasting is best). A blank intended for 6 lb line + will work well. Few baitcasting reels are smooth enough for the drag technique to be done effectively. Any reel worked over by Don or some of the new super free spool reels work well for the drag technique. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
