CP problem

hi, I need help,yesterday I put CP on it and it moved, sliped and I had to do it again. I didn't use a lot of CP for first coat but got heavy and moved. Now I am realy scared to use CP again. Can somebody help me with this problem. Thank you Jerry Re: CP problem

Need a little more info. What moved and where?? Decorative wrap, guide??? what kind of thread? How did you apply the CP, etc Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: CP problem

If the thread tension is not tight enough the thread will loosen upon the application of CP. I assume this is what your concern is. I had this happen on the first closed wrap i didi on a surf rod(fat butt one thread at a time). When I put the CP on it started to loosen up and move. It sounds like you had loose threads. Do a search this problem has been adressed meny times

If this is for a butt wrap, use CP just at the crossing points to start with. Then once you have the wrap finished and tied down, CP the whole thing. Bill in WV Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/12/2009 07:41PM by William Bartlett. Re: CP problem

I agree with Bill. matter of fact I CP the vary first cross, let dry and then start the wrap.
