I had someone inquire about building a custom rod off of one of the Carrot stick blanks. The company is E2 or something like that, does anyone know if these blanks are available for purchase?
Thanks, Steve Re: carrot stick

I do not believe the E21 blanks are available.
The original maker of the Curran fiber rods is located in the U.K. Currently they only make fly rods and blanks, to my knowledge. ....................... Re: carrot stick

I have a CTS EF704 blank painted Tangerine.
If you just want to build him an orange rod on a better blank? Re: carrot stick

I received a few carrot sticks when they first came out to try out. I liked the blanks action but did not like everything else so I stripped one down and re-built the rod. I used fugi Ti guides and a fugi ACS reel seat, EVA grips. I also removed all the orange paint off the blank. I will post some pictures in the next few days.
Thanks ERIK Re: carrot stick

I found the manufacturers website a year or so ago and I thought that the rods looked pretty cool and had only heard good things about them (spinning and casting don't know about the fly) but I did not see blanks for sale. I know that the rods were pretty dang expensive so I am guessing that the blanks have got to be pretty ridiculously expensive too.

I traded some email with the maunfacturers in the UK. Blanks aren't for sale to individual builders, however, they didn't totally close the door to offering blanks to a US distributor. I didn't pursue it further with them but one of the distributors might.

Looks like a regular blank nothing special. The rod that I stripped is the 6'9 parabolic. I was also give the 6'9 MH but I let a friend use it and have never gotten it back. I might do that one next. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/06/2009 10:23PM by Erik King. Re: carrot stick

Erik. That’s the point I knew you would make.
Apart from pretty paint and effective marketing there a "regular blank nothing special". Same graphite, same prepeg set ups, a few organic fibers added to the resin. Plus creative add campaign and you have the greatest thing to hit the market since Bugs Bunny. Re: carrot stick

Steve got it exactly right, there is a large disconnect between what a Curran based rod could be and what a Carrot Stix really is. Re: carrot stick
