If you have a power wrapper that uses the 3/4 X 16 threads on the head stock, and you need a different chuck; you might check ou the Taig Chuck for $65.
[www.taigtools.com] Compared to other industrial chucks on the market, the price is typically less but the quality is high. I have a couple of these chucks that I use on both my Lathes as well as my power wrappers and they are holding up well. No issues with getting loose, and the accuracy is dead on. Hey Roger,
What do you put on the jaws to fit rods w/o damaging them? Rubber, cork, felt? Thanks! Snooker Pete Re: Replacement power wrapper chuck

Pete,
I reverse the tall soft aluminum jaws so that the wide flat side of the jaws are toward the butt of the rod. I may have even modified the jaws so that the ends of the jaws were square. (I used an abrasive cut off chop saw to shear off the ends of the jaws to be square. Then, I used a disk sander to smooth the ends of the jaws. ) Then, after trying a few different things, now use 1/16th thick cork on the jaws. I use double sticky tape to affix the cork tot he jaws. I used the chuck for a while without anything. There really wasn't an issue with the flat jaws hurting or marring the butt of the blank, but there was an issue with the butt working itself out of the chuck. After adding the thin layer of cork to the jaws, the butt of the rod stays secure. I also sometimes use this chuck for drying, and after a 24 hour spin cycle on the dryer, the rod is still secure. Take care Roger Re: Replacement power wrapper chuck

The thread size on these chucks is 3/4 inch shaft by 16 threads per inch. i.e. 3/4X16 hole thread.
If your head stock shaft on the pack bay wrapper has a 3/4 inch shaft with 16 threads per inch, it will fit. Take care Roger p.s. If you aren't sure and have such a wrapper - take off the chuck - go to a hardware store and pick up a 3/4 X16 threads per inch nut. It the nut fits smoothly, the chuck will fit. Or, take the current chuck to the store and see if a 3/4X16 threaded bolt will nicely fit into the current chuck. Re: Replacement power wrapper chuck

So - does PSI or Taig fit the shaft of the Pac Bay upgraded rod support? Frankly I'm just too lazy to take the chuck off my lathe Re: Replacement power wrapper chuck
