The new Library website is gathering steam!

Well, it only been 10 days since I launched the new rodbuilding tutorials website.

Even while I was making minor teaks here & there the traffic has (after a large peak)
remained steady. Never in my wildest thoughts did I think it would reach so many
rodbuilder's so quickly! Ok, Well, maybe the numbers are not that huge compaired
to an "active" site. I don't really now but I still get excited over how many rodbuilders
are viewing and downloading the content there. To date there have been just over
1,700 visitors from 29 countries world wide creating about 20,000 hits all over the site
and many of the tutroials have been downloaded 100's of times. B.D. Ehler's cross
wrapping being the most popular with almost 300 downloads and the Trim & Inlay
tutorials #1 & #2 by Scott Youschak following close behind. In 3yrs I have only emailed
a dozen tutorials totaling about 150 people so In 10 days those numbers are dwarfed!

It was my hope that the site would inspire other rodbuilders to jump on the band
wagon so to speak and either create something new or put something out that has
been tucked away with not many knowing about it and I wasn't dissappointed.
Already I have been sent about 1/2 a dozen new pieces by almost as many contributers
that I didn't have before and have been told others are in the works as well.
WAY TO GO GUYS!

I know I sound like I'm tooting my own horn but what I'm trying to do is toot the horn
for all the contributing authors and the examples set by Tom Kirkman , Doc Ski,
Dale Clemens, & others. All I did was make a website Library that without the
contributions of so many, would have no books to read. I guess I'm just excited a bit
to see something so simple work so well too.

BTW, Most will notice I changed the name of the site to The Rodbuilder's Library.
(the URL has not changed)
It is just one of the craft's librarys not mine. IMO, I'm just a "keeper of the keys"
so to speak to an unlocked door and all are welcome to contribute and study there.
It truly belongs to all of you.

If there are any Web savy Internet Gurus that wouldn't mind giving me some pointers
out there PLEASE DO! LOL Some re-design may be in order down the road or even
sooner to make it easier (drop downs maybe?) and seems to have a problem with
the "Member Update" part. It's not working right. It's missing something I think. I dunno.
One can sign up to get email updates when content is added but no emails go out.

Your website is gathering steam because you advertised it here on RBO.

..and it gathers even more steam, with the caliper of contributors you have in stock.

Ray, I think it's a great idea - to have collection of info like that, all in one place. I see it as a benifit to Rod Builders wordwide.
Hat's off to ya Ray!

Ray,

Very noble idea and excellent resource for rod buiders. I posted your website link to the most popular fishingkaki ( fishing pals) website in SE Asia.

Cheers,

Anthony Lee

No doubt at all that announcing here was a huge benifit but I also made the
announcement on 3 other forums. Within 24hrs I was getting hits from 6
other forums. All of which I never heard of before.

Michael,
I couldn't have said that any better myself.

She's a great site Raymond. All the tutorials (with lots more to come now ,I'm sure) are there for viewing and downloading, and any quirks can and are answered here. It's the only two sites I need for Rod Building.

Well done Tom and Raymond.

Cheers
Harold
