How to do it

Okay this one is w-a-y out there but I'll try anyway. I want to build a rod with clear handles. I know the Rodmaker article on clear acrylic handles did that but I do not want hard and rigid handle. I want something softer like EVA or cork but CLEAR. Is this possible? Is there such a material out there? Surely such a thing must exist. Anybody know anything that might be suitable?

Ken,

The thing that springs to mind for me would be the stuff they use to make trolling lures with soft heads. It guess it is some sort of two part clear moulding silicon/rubber. You may have to make some moulds and then cast the grips. The stuff doesn't look like it is really water clear either, based on the lures I have seen made with it. I also have no idea where you would get it and it would probably be heavy too.

Ken-
You may have "stumped the band" with that one. Maybe clear vinyl hose over clear acrylic would have a soft enough feel. Might yellow quickly.

Check out Smooth-on.com ........ they might have something. They are not a sponsor here so I apologize if I am breaking any rules. Just trying to help out.

What about molding clear silicone for a handle, just an idea never tried it. Not sure how clear it will be either.
