Rainshadow guide spacing

I am building two fly rods for the daughters of a friend for Xmas. The blanks he chose are Rainshadow RX7, 4wt, 2 piece. One is 7'6" and the other is 8' in length. I am searching for information on guide spacing, either recommended by the manufacturer or from user experience. (Tried the search function on this site with no result, and couldn't find it on the Batson Rainshadow site.) As a default, I have calculated rough spacings using the information in Art Flick's book, "Fly Rod Building Made Easy". The result for the 7'6" rod, using 9 guides, came out to be: 4", 4 11/16", 5 5/16", 6", 6 11/16", 7 5/16", 8", 8 11/16", 9 5/16", measured from the tip guide. The stripper is 30" above the butt of the real seat. Any comments/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ray

Batson has almost all the blanks listed in the guide chart section. For your blanks go to chart 1 and scroll down each type of blank is listed and highlighted, you will need to know the model number.
Remember that these charts are starting points you need to tweak them from there to get the most out of the rod.

Hi Ray,
Check out the article in the library above called "Static Guide Placement". I and many others use this technique, or something similar, to determine the optimum guide placement.
