I have previously used NCP threads. I am going to use bright color Madeira thread for a light spinning rod. Which color preserver do you guys recommend? Re: Color Preserver

I use Chromaseal or U-40 Color Lock with Madeira. At least two good coats Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Color Preserver

Just wanted to chime in regarding the comment "at least two good coats".
I also use Chromaseal and last weekend layed on @#$%& of a coat that took forever to sink in. Thinking that this one mega coat was sufficient, I epoxied and the wraps developed some dark spots where threads had not completely been protected. The lesson here is that you really do need two coats. As with epoxy, I would imagine multiple lighter coats is best. Re: Color Preserver

Tony, Look with a magnifying glass and see if the dark spots aren't caused by the blank showing between threads! Thread needs to be really packed when using thread lighter than the blank.
