I'm ready to wrap a Rainshadow 10'8" for 7 line switch blank and have a couple questions.
It's a 4 piece and has what is described as an "exploded ferrule" type system (looks very similar to my older D. Craft Sig V blanks which had ferrules reinforce wrapped to full length of insertion). Does this rod require full length reinforcement or will the more typical 1 1/2 times diameter of opening be good? Also, does anyone have a recommendation for a line to match this rod for fishing moving water for steelies/salmon. I'm thinking Skagit heads for where I'll fish (Calif & the Northwest coast)) but I'm getting confused by all the grain weight & line # descriptions for matching spey and now switch rods. I have several reels with running lines for shooting heads. And I've never fished with a 2 handed rod. Help me, please. John V. Re: Rainshadow switch blank ferrules

The manufacturer should have the last word in how much of the ferrule should be thread wrapped. Generally, ferrules are internally reinforced and require no such wrapping but since this is a specialty blank I'd refer you to the folks at Batson for their recommendation. If they cannot reply today I'm sure they will by late tomorrow morning. Or you can shoot them an email and ask.
