Going to the BVI's in march, and looking to possibly build a rod. Any opinions on a good all around spinning rod for all around fishing. Lure fishing only, and mostly off the back of a sailboat. Any opinions welcome. Thanks everyone. Re: BVI's - Never Been, what would be a good all around rod

Right off the bat an 843 popping blank comes to mind. It is not so stiff that you can't cast a spoon or a plastic lure. Or cast a top water lure for that matter. Re: BVI's - Never Been, what would be a good all around rod

If you need to fly, a batson travel sb843-3 or sb841-3. I went to the USVI a few years ago, lots of 1 to 5 pound groupers, jacks, and yellow tail snappers to be caught on lures. Had most of my fish on yozuri crystal minnows and L-Jacks. Bring flurocarbon line, the water is like glass.
