Stripping guide size

Typically I use a #10 and a #12 stripping guide on my fly rods. I have also used just a single stripper followed by a #4 snake guide on lighter line weight rods such as a 4wt. Any thoughts (Advantages or disadvantages) to using a #8 and #10 stripper in lieu of using a single #10 stripper and a #4 snake guide?
Thanks, Paul Re: Stripping guide size

The first guide is the stripping guide. Generally, a size 12 would be sufficient on most anything up to perhaps the very highest line weights where you might try a 16 just to see if it helps anything. I would recommend that you try a high frame spinning type guide for this.
A high frame size 10 should work fine on most of the lighter line weight rods. .................. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
