I' ve just bought a Winston blank (BIIx 9p 4wt 4pc). But I don't know which thread colors to choose .

Have you some advises or some "beautiful" examples ? What are the official thread color for this blank ?

hello patrice. i own a winston biix 8' 6" 4wt 4 piece. the guide wraps are the exact same color as the blank or clear (you can see the guide feet beneath the wrapping) with no trim wraps. the winston logo is about 12" from the handle and is underwrapped with the same thread as the guides with 1/8" white trim wraps. the hook keeper is wrapped with the same thread as the guides with burgundy trim wraps. the rod info is handwritten in silver with burgundy trim wraps. hope this helps. maybe tom or one of the other guys could advise you on the proper thread color for those wraps- like i said they look exactly the same color as the blank but you can see the guide feet clearly through them.

Haven't looked at a Winston for a while, but it looked the same color as the Batson green blanks. I used Gudebrod Dark Green, #5896 I think the number is, with no cp to match the Batson blanks.

I think that I will use dark green from Gudebrod also, with perhaps some scarlet and black a little.

I wrapped one with green main wraps, followed with 4 turns gudebrod sunburst and a single wrap of silver on the outer edge, without cp. The sunburst turned a nice orangeish-brown that matched well with the amboyna seat insert. I also used a dark amber agate stripper. It was alot of work, but the result was a stunning rod. Client was amazed and extremely pleased.
