bent section or incorrect spine???

I'm finally getting around to wrapping guides on a SCiv 6 (4 piece) weight. My static distr. test looks good and a few test cast went okay. I wan't that impressed with the casts though, but don't know if it just me getting used to a faster action rod than the sciii 5 weight I'm building too (was hitting the 50 foot mark with ease but not much more).

Last night as I wrapped guides on the third section, I noticed that it bends slightly to the left, but is clearly noticible. When the first three sections were put together, it was that section that seemed to bend. Have I put the guides on the secondarly spine? The third section seems to be the most difficult to spine for some reason. Am I dealing with multiple spines, or do I have a bend section??? I've never come across this before, and am looking for advice.

At least at this stage, I can always rewrap guides. This could be robbing some of the casting energy and would make the rod less accurate (I need all the help I can get!) potentially. I have alconite running guides and top and fuji SiC striping guides, so I am anticipating getting alot more length from the casts.

There is no such thing as a secondary spine. There is only one actual spine on that rod and it's almost never in line with the straightest portion of the rod.

You can build on the spine or on the straightest axis but rarely can you do both. For what you're doing, I'd use the spine and forget about the slight curvature. Any blank that is built on the spine is going to curve off to the left or right by a bit. It won't affect your casting.

Almost any rod built on or 180 degrees to the effective spine will curve off to the left or right. Normally, this doesn't affect casting in any way - it just looks odd and may mess with your head. Don't worry about it - in time you'll forget about it and just enjoy using the rod.
