Hello,
I'm looking for an 11' float rod blank that would handle 12-18 pound tippet to be used for King Salmon. I'm open to spey blanks, however weight is a concern. I'd appreciate any feedback you could offer especially on the CTS Affinity Plus DH 7/8 and 8/9 weight blanks. How would they compare to other blanks of the same line rating and could they stand up to the line weight? Thanks in advance, Steve Re: Salmon float rod blank

Where are you attempting to catch Kings? I am wondering because it depends on the weight rod for the size of fish you are after. Matt White Re: Salmon float rod blank

With all the great blanks from the sponsors to the left for salmon I wouldn't start out looking elsewhere. The Rod Shop is a place I'd also call, Mark has a great variety of blanks for your application. Sage makes the CT 3113 blank for your line weight a a 4 power also if you want to go a bit heavier, Angler's Workshop, Custom Tackle and others carry them. Being able to move your length up or down 6 inches really opens up the possibilities. Re: Salmon float rod blank

Steve....
My primary rod I fish for coho's and kings are float rods. I prefer the batson rods. They are durable, lite, and the best bang for you will find for heavy float rods. But, will you use the rod in Alaska, The Great Lakes, or the West/East Coasts? Personnally and for my old customers, I think they are thre toughest as well as being lite. The Forcast blanks are rock solid and break salmon backs; I have and use all of them for float rods. I would go to their website and take a peek around. Good luck.. Paul Re: Salmon float rod blank

Thanks to everyone for the help. I'm leaning towards the XST1264F, as it fits the requirements and budget.
Karry-what guide spacing would you recommend for that blank built as a float rod? Steve Re: Salmon float rod blank

Guide spacing Specs(inches from tip, center ring over mark) 4.25-9-14.25-20.25-27-34.5-43-52.5-62.75-74-86 Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
