Any suggestions on coin inlays? I was wondering if i could cut hole in a cork handle and place an old half dime in the hole and then going over it with flexcoat hi-build finish. Would this be possible? The coin location would be on the handle either right above the reel seat or right below it. Thanks Re: Coin inlay

Yes it is possible. The coin needs to be clean.

When you said- "an old half dime", didn't you mean a nickel? LOL
I have done it a couple times on the butt end with FC and had some yellowing take place because of the thickness of the layer I put on. I am going to try it with TM next time as it seems a bit clearer. A strong solution of salt and vinegar will clean the coin up well. Re: Coin inlay

Threadmaster would be my choice. I inlay a coin, button, etc in the but of almost every rod that I build and. IMO, Threadmaster is by far the clearest finish that I have ever used. I would steer away from Flex coat over inlays because of it's yellowing. It's a fine finish but yellows more than any that I have used. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
