Walt,
I watched a number of video animation "how to's" on Turksheads and could never get it right. I finally "got it" looking at a step by step how to in a Boy Scout hand book similar to this --> [www.geocities.com] If push comes to shove and you just can't get it, I'll tie it for you. Our available cord colors are here --> [] Mark Griffin [] C&M Custom Tackle San Dimas, California Re: Turks head knot

Here is one use.
[www.rodbuilding.org] It's usually used as a transision from fore grip to blank 1-2in on deckhand style rods. Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Turks head knot

If I use a Tuekshead Knot at all, I use it on the butt and as Raymond says, as a transition.
The example shown by Raymond is another variation of knotting used for covering. Most people that I have taught to do the knot, aren't patient and don't follow directions. Learn the Boy Scout Woggle (Kerchief) Knot well then progress. Again, people try to get too ambitious and want to make something elaborate before they actually have the ability. A simple tasteful Turkshead Knot on a rod really adds a touch. There is a site on the Internet which sells all kinds of jigs and instructions for making, but haven't seen any place where they sell ready made knots. I suppose that someone has, as it is isn't brain surgery by any means. Be patient, study directions and practice, practice, practice. JMHO C2 Re: Turks head knot

Take a look at this. The jigs are very easy to make and make the knots into no-brainers
