Diamond II

Hey guys just though I would post a note on Diamond II

I received a kit of Diamond II to test out and only recently was able to give it a good test. I have used most of the major finishes over the past few years and Diamond II is as good as all of them. I mixed it by hand following the instructions and then in my pacbay mizer with good results. It flow's very nicely and has, I think, a longer pot life that TM (I had viscocity issues with TM). My only complaint at all is that it doesnt have as good of a bubble release as TM (could just be me). That being said I had no problem popping the few bubbles I did get. I can't speak for it's color retention because I simply havent used it long enough. All in all I was very happy with Diamond II and would definately recommend it to others to try out. I didn't use any CP on the rods that I used the Diamond II on, so I have no idea how it will react to that, or what CP's work with it.

I received some Diamond II from Richard a while back and I love it. I have absolutely no bubble problems. I haven't had to bust a bubble yet. It flows good and has good pot life. Richard at Rodology is a great guy to deal with.

Scott

I tried Threadmaster when it was first introduced and have been using it since. Last winter, I was working on a few "trial" rods and ordered the small containers of Diamondite II to try because of all the high praise it received here and a few other sites that I frequent. I applied it to several rods and was generally pleased with it except that it just didn't have the clairty or lustre that the Threadmaster has or LS Supreme which I had used prior to Threadmaster's introduction. The Diamondite II just seemed to have a satin or semi-translucent appearance to it - not the crystal clarity of the other finishes. Perhaps I just managed to get a batch of product that wasn't their best. I also considered that maybe I hadn't mixed it properly but after verifying that I had followed the instructions correctly and having finished several rods with it, the clarity of the Threadmaster was obvious in a side-by-side comparison. Like you, I didn't use the product over CP so I can't comment on that. I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying Diamondite II because I thought it had plenty of good qualities; I just prefer Threadmaster. I found that I could get good results using the Diamondite II as the first coat and then applying an additional coat of Threadmaster. The satin or hazy finish that I descibed was not noticeable when used this way. The finish was just as clear as if it were 2 coats of Threadmaster and I haven't had any separation issues between the 2 types of finish even on the finishes that were applied several weeks apart.

OOps...my error. Thanks for pointing that out, Ray. My earlier post described my experince with Diamondite; not Diamondite II.
