Just got in a surf rod for a rebuild and was wondering what is the easiest way to remove the cork tape?
Just thinking about the tape glue that will be left on after removing the cork. Re: removing cork tape

Actually, unless the installer added some glue, the glue that is on the tape itself leaves very little residue. Re: removing cork tape

Use a pair of pliars to remove the tape, Then, use goof off, MEK, acetone, paint thinner, or Xylene to remove any glue residue. If you need to, you can also clean up some of the tape reside and glue with a straight edged razor, moved in a fashion that is perpendicular to the rods surface.

In this order from weakest to strongest:
goo gone (let sit 10min, wipe away) goof off 2 (water based and not nearly as harmful as the next) goof off (use GOOD ventilation and this stuff will melt just about anything if you leave it on too long) Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
