Does anybody know where to get single foot titanium wire fly guides without ceramic inserts? Preferably wholesale? Including the tip top. Thanks, Kyle
Try the suppliers on the left,- Anglers Workshop- Bingham Enterprises- Custom Tackle or any other of your favorite suppliers, look for part # CSFG - I believe it is a PacBay product. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/09/2008 11:01AM by Moderator. Re: Titanium fly guides?

Hey Tom, the csfg are tianium carbide, which I thought was just a coating over SS frames. Am I wrong? I want solid titanium for use in the salt just because when I grind down the feet the coating will be gone in that litle part. Also, solid titanium is lighter, which is just as important. Thanks for your help.
Bill, I've been wanting to try out Recoil guides and they have everything I'm looking for in a one-stop shop, so this may be the time, thanks.................Kyle Re: Titanium fly guides?

Be aware that the REC wire guides aren't near as wear resistant as a ceramic ringed guide or for that matter a hard chrome over SS guide. I'd at least have a Fuji Ti/SiC tip top, Few rod companies, including the Cabela rods, don't have a ceramic tip top.
Probably all the sponsors you mentioned above carry REC guides. I know Angler's Workshop does. Re: Titanium fly guides?

Spencer, I used all sic tit guides on my 12wt because I plan to use it for fish up to 100#s+, and I also have a ton of braid backing on it. This new rod is an 8wt for saltwater use. I thought the titanium tip would be heavy enough for fish up to 30#s or so, but I haven't used a tit wire tip before so I don't know what the wear resistance is. Again, the backing will be braid since ya never know when something big might bite in the surf. I wanted to keep the wt as low as possible but you do bring up a good point so I'll give it some thought, thanks.......................Kyle
Ps, that second part of my original post was Tom answering my question after he edited my post Still wondering about the titanium carbide, but I am pretty sure it's a coating Re: Titanium fly guides?

Kyle,
To my knowledge, no one manuf solid Ti running guides. I am sure you know that Fuji and some others manuf solid Ti frames for their ceramics. The REC s/f recoil guides are a Nickel Titanium alloy which do not corrode, tarnish or stain at all. They would be your best bet for the salt. I have them, and the tip-tops, on about 20 rods with no discoloration nor groving. However, I do not use one rod exclusively - you might experiance different (groving) results if you used one rod exclusively. Herb Re: Titanium fly guides?

I meant nickel titanium, not necesarily straight titanium. Thanks, I'm going to go with REC with an sic tit tip top.................Kyle Re: Titanium fly guides?

That's the first time I've seen a moderator try to answer a person's question within his question and not on a separate post. Re: Titanium fly guides?

That's odd, because I didn't write the second part of my post, and it says "Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/09/2008 11:01AM by Moderator." at the bottom? I'm not the least bit upset, just confused now??? Anyway, it doesn't matter now and my quesion was answered................Kyle
I also thought it was odd that Tom would recommend Tich as being titanium, I knew he knows that it is just a coating??? But since I thought it was Tom, I asked if Tich was a coating when I knew it was. I have a ton of respect for Tom so I went along with it, thinking it was him??? I'm not sure if you all can read everything in my post that I can see(like the moderator quote I just copied and pasted), but there is no question that I did not write half that post because it answers my question. I'm done with this thread, LOL! Re: Titanium fly guides?

Kyle,
If you are going with the Fuji TiSiC tip-top - consider the concept line, TFST vs the TPST. They are much lighter in wt. Herb Re: Titanium fly guides?

Thanks Herb, I already have some of those tip tops, but I'll have to check and see which series they are, I might have both?............Kyle Re: Titanium fly guides?
