Elma High School, Elma WA rod bulding class

I just came from or local Grays Harbor County fair. While walking around looking at exhibits. I walked into the FFA ( Future Farmers of America) barn. Anyway in the back to my surprise there were fishing rods displayed that this Elma High School class had done. They also had a hand wrapper they had built. These students did a great job. Congratulation to the students and instructor. From what I understand this was part of the Batson school program. KUDOS to all. I support this school program.
Good Wraps Bob This is what rod building is about.

That's great! Pass it on to another generation.

I started in the 7th grade when my dad took me to a rod-building class. I'm 47 now and wish I had access to this site back when I was 13. These kids don't know how good they have it.

I am 17 and reside in Omak WA, and my FFA adviser/ ag teacher got me start. I really enjoy making rods, and I am glad i have had the opportunity's i have had. I currently fix all the rods that the students don't finish and make rods to sell. I think that everyone should have the opportunity to try stuff like this, if they want to, and thanks to company's like Batson, more people get to try this satisfying craft.
