Looking for a really good blank for veritcal fishing 3/8 -1/2oz. tube jigs. So far, St. Croix's Med/Fast series in 6'6 or 7' look to fit the bill, but I sincerely appreciate other suggestions! Many thanks, Mike Re: Tube jig blank search

Off of Rich Forhan's site, he recommends a GUSA 703 or 704DHX, in 7', as well as a Shikari 3 or 4 power blank. Re: Tube jig blank search

If fishing quite vertically, Loomis 2 power Spin Jig blanks.
If you're casting hard with 1/2 ounce you'll probably want to step up to a 3 power. I prefer the Spin Jig tapers for my feel fishing. St. Croix's MF's are another very good option. ........................... Better to have and not need than to need and not have. Re: Tube jig blank search

I really like the St. Croix 3 or 4 C68MXF or 69MLXF
Great blank and so versitile for other types of fishing, too. I extended one to 7 ft. and it is lovely. Re: Tube jig blank search

Thanks Les. I've read many good reviews on those 68MXF blanks, guess there's only one way to find out! Re: Tube jig blank search

The 5C68MXF was my only tube rod for Erie smallies.....til it had an unexplained accident. Have another one, but haven't built it yet. Also have a 4SW76MF that feels like it will make a good deep water tube rod. Re: Tube jig blank search

Thanks Scott! I appreciate your help. This rod will be used in a similar manner on the NY Finger Lakes for smallmouth. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
