Tiger question

I do have the Rod maker magazine on this article but the question I have is this, how loose or rather tight should the first wrap be to burnish it in several directions to get the effect of the tiger wrap.
Thanks Rob

Rob it you wrap it loser than say you might do a guide then it will be easier to burnish but I still wrap tight and just burnish harder. Experimenting right now with a combination of burnishing and Rolling some flat after applying CP. Best thing is to experiment and find what tension works best for you.

One thing that will make using less tension a lot easier was pointed out by Scott Throop in his posts on this board. Do not run the trailing thread through the tensioner - just the thread guide eye - tension the thread not running through the tensioner with light finger pressure. One real key he noted was the position of the thread spools on the wrapper posts depending on the direction of motion. The looser the wrap the easier it is to distort the pattern. As he said in the article "then step on the gas" - Gotta Love That Article and the Wraps by Throop and Colby!
