plastic sleeves to protect girps

A friend of mine has a retail sports store and is going to sell some of my rods in his shop. I would like to put a plastic protective sleeve over the grips. I know some of the big rod makers do this as well. Does anyone know where to get these sleeves?

I think the reason that manufacturers do that is to prevent the fill used in cork grips from falling out before they are sold. IMO (and it's ONLY MY opinion) the sleeve indicates to me that it's a cheap filled cork grip. I don't know if you make yopur own grips or use preformed ones, but I would rather my customers feel the difference in smoothness/comfort in the grips on my rods. I go to lengths to keep from appearing like a manufactered rod.

This is NOT a criticism/knock, just my opinion.

On the flip side... they aren't a bad idea to help keep grips clean if they are sitting on a rack where people have free access to handle the rods.

David,

Backlash Components has clear, high gloss shrink tubing just for that purpose. The 2” is $0.40 a foot and the 3” is $0.45 plus shipping 25 foot minimum. You can email them at
