Roller guides on 30lb class rod

I have a 30lb class blank which I had hoped to fit with AFTCO lightweight roller guides. The final two rollers AL-3-G and AL-2-G are too small to fit on the blank properly. Is it OK to continue to the tip with AL-4-G or should I not use the roller guides and go for standard suitable rings throughout? Thanks in anticipation.

For a 30lb. rod I would think those (2 & 3) would be to big for the tip section. The lightweight guides have a concave foot that must be matched to the diameter of the blank. Plus an underwrap must be used and also factored into the diameter of the rod.

This will tell you the diameters for each guide size

I use these guides all of the time. If the diameter of the blank is too large for the 2 or 3 then go with the 4's it won't be a problem. also on those guides I don't use an under wrap and have neverhad a problem. I do however under wrap the double footed 1st guide. Scott
