G'day Guys,
I'm contemplating my first game rod (will most likely be a 24kg standup tuna stick) and would like some input re foregrips (the rear grip will be a slick butt). There are so many options I don't know where to start: Hypalon - maybe too soft and therefore not comfortable over the long haul EVA - harder but more easily damaged Shrink tube over EVA - maybe solves damage problem classic leather over cork - maybe too expensive with cost of cork? leather over a rail rod composite cork grip - may be a little cheaper flocking over EVA or rail rod composite cork Or am I just worrying too much as a harness will be used and therefore your hand shouldn't be on the blank anyway. Also can someone explain why a "soft" grip will cause hand fatigue over a period of time and a "hard" one minimises this problem. Cheers Jason Edited 1 time(s). A denser, firmer EVA would work well. Many big game rods use Hypalon or EVA. They don't damage as easily as you think. The rail rod grips are a bit heavier. EVA would be too soft to flock.
A soft grip allows you to deform the grip when holding it tightly. This closes your hand further, putting all the effort into gripping tightly rather than holding the rod. This is what cramps your hand and kills your grip. A hard grip hold its shape and diameter, allowing a firm, yet relaxed grip. Re: Grips for game rods

Far too much information to put into a simple message board post. ................. Re: Grips for game rods

I like the triangle EVA. It fits your hand perfectly Re: Grips for game rods
