Ok. Dummy here. I use dental floss....with nothing attached to it. So......think about a dental floss with a loop on one end. That's all I know. What's with the beads and swivels? I don't understand how they can be on the dental floss or thread when you want to feed it through........maybe I am getting the idea. You don't have to feed it I guess......I guess you WRAP the thread over the floss. Therefore I guess a bead could be on the tag end. Geeeze.....I dunno. I just don't understand the bead thing.....nor the need for it?

Jim,
Sounds like you have something that works good for you. But the loop/bead thing may be worth a try.
For me, the bead makes the puller more visible (either if I drop it, or if it is on the table with all of the scrap thread pieces), and aids in pulling the loop by giving something to hold onto. Like others, I made a few quick and easy pullers with some Power Pro braid threaded through a red bead and tied in a loop uni to uni. I just replicated what I saw in a product catalog. The only down side I have encountered is that sometimes the bead can get in the way of the wrap, or get caught around the thread.
The positives outweigh those negatives, in my opinion.
Hope this helps.

I add the bead to make it easier to locate with the thread scraps laying around. Too many times I went to reach for the loop and it was gone and I had to fumble around while trying to hold the wrap. It just makes it easier for me.

Way to go DR, I have used both and much prefer the barrel swivel over the bead. I tie each end of the piece of braid to one end of the barrel swivel.

I use 8 pound fireline (because it's what I use for fishing mostly) with two knots and then fold a 2 inch piece of blue masking tape over the section between the two knots - very easy to find when dropped and it doesn't get in your way... my 2 cents - Chuck Ungs
