This is kind of for those that don't get to the photo board very often.
It has taken me 1 1/2 weeks to get the grip this far. It will be ether a fly handle or skeleton seat split grip haven't made up my mind yet. The wood is birch and zebra wood. [www.rodbuilding.org] [www.rodbuilding.org] Re: 160 piece glue up grip

It looks like you had a hand full. I like the way every thing lines up and it's uniform. I'm sure that the results will be very good. Re: 160 piece glue up grip

There is a very simple way to do what you've done, but I'm not going to rain on your parade, I give you an A for effort and wish you the best of luck as you begin turning. Please keep us informed as to how it turns out.

Agree it could be done simpler. Nice bit of work, although quite involved. It'll come out as a checker board, with 1/4 circle segments. Good effort, can't wait to see the final finished piece. Hope it's worth all the gluing. The Zebra wood will only show what you see now.
Simpler method: 4 blocks, corner to corner, glued up. Turn and drill out center hole. Cut slices on the bandsaw. Glue up, rotating alternate discs to get the checkerboard effect. Turn to final grip. Start with 4 long pieces, end up cutting and regluing only 40 rings. Just a bit more time on the lathe and saw. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
