i need some 5 minute epoxy today. i will be building epoxy ramps, and making some touch ups on my eva split grips. is there a product i could buy at lowes or home depot that will get the job done? i imagine any 5 min. epoxy that is flexible and waterproof will work?
thanks in advance, lance Re: in a pinch for some 5 min.

I would read this thread before you did that

You could substitute Rod Bond regular. Re: in a pinch for some 5 min.

Lance,
Go to Lowes and get any of the 2part 5min epoxy's that say "waterproof" NOT water resistant and you'll be fine. Make sure to cover that epoxy ramp with something like paint, thread or something because 5min epoxy turns yellow with time. DR Edited 1 time(s). just got back from lowes. the only 5 minute they had was a loctite brand, and it was only water and solvent resistant. i guess i'll try home depot or a local hardware store next. Re: in a pinch for some 5 min.

Lance before you finish a rod that may cause your some problems go to Lance 2s house and get some Kardol or Rod Bond - or use some thread and make a ramp with finish on top - slow down and do it right - five minute store bought is too brittle and will crack at a bad spot. i emailed him this morning and he doesnt have any 5 minute, and i'm kind of hesitant to use a paste type epoxy. however, i have never tried a thread only ramp, and that might be the way to go. i'll give it a try. thanks bill. Re: in a pinch for some 5 min.

I've been using Ace hardware 2 part 5 min. epoxy for ramps for years with absolutely NO problems (that'a ALL I use it for!). I never could get the hang of using thick stuff for ramps Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! I build ramps with Rod Bond then wrap with thread. Haven't tried building with 5 min epoxy yet. Re: in a pinch for some 5 min.

Like Mike suggested, the moving epoxy helps to make the ramp nice and round when turned while working with it, I have tried some of the paste type products and none of them were as easy for me, or did as nice a job as the 5min epoxy's.

Lance,
I don't know what part of the country you are from, but if you are in the midwest, go to a Menards and pick up some of their 30 minute "Pro" epoxy. It is the only Epoxy that I have used for the last several years with no problems at all. The good news is the price. The price is $9 for 1 LB of epoxy. This is about 1/8th the cost of many of the more famous or noteworthy brands. Take care Roger Re: in a pinch for some 5 min.
