Bass Pro Thread Color and Size

I'm replacing a couple guides on a Bass Pro Extreme rod. It's has gold and dark green guide wraps. Upon inspection as I cut off the first wrap was that the green looks to be maybe "D" or "E" size thread. My question is what did they use? Should I just use two "A" size threads together?

It is probably D. Are you saying green wraps with gold trims, or a combination of green and gold?

Ash, I just did a guide replacement on a Bass Pro Extreme. The thread I used was Gudebrod HT 9656 Green in "A" and it was a good match in this case. Seems the HT 9656 is a lot stiffer than anything else I had in stock therefore it stood up a little more. I think the original thread was about a "D" size or maybe a "C" but after I finished the wraps it looked like the rest of them. I thought it looked fine.

Ash I agree with the rest. In mass- produced rods time is money. That is why they may have used a (D) thread.. (A) Thread well handle any Bass around. I use A on my WA. King Salmon rods.

Tom - Each guide wrap starts as gold trim for 4 wraps and then picks up the green. The green and gold are wrapped together for several wraps. Then the gold is dropped and finished as just green.
Now I just need to order some "D" thread. Thanks guys!

Ash
