Any advantage to triple wrapping guides

I am builiding a 50-80 pound yellowfin tuna spinning rod for popper fishing. My goal is to land a 150 pound plus yellowfin on topwater lure. It is no big effort to triple wrap the guides and it would easily give me a nice silver metallic band between 2 deep blue (same color) wraps. Thread size is A. Would a third wrap add any strenght and is there any reason (other than the added work) to not do a third wrap over the guides? I am wondering, as well, if this will help keep the guide foot from cracking the epoxy. I have other rods where the epoxy is cracked where the feet meet the epoxy.

Thanks

A triple wrap will not help prevent cracking around the guide feet. Only proper guide foot preparation (make it sit flush with the blank and taper nicely), proper epxoy application (fill those tunnles, don't just seal them) and proper thread tension will prevent cracking.

A single wrap of A over the guide feet is more than strong enough to hold the guides in place. The second over-wrap (3rd layer of thread in a triple wrap) dates back to the days when varnish was used as finish. The extra layer of thread was used to help guard against abrasion. With today's high build epoxies, the finish itself protects the thread from abrasion so triple wraps aren't necessary.

But if you do triple wrap, on a tuna rod you'll never notice the extra weight.

Like Dave said weight is not much of an issue, but I would suggest that you spend that time with guide feet prep.....

The third wrap could be useful for additional decoration.
