I would like to build a foam grip TN handle style. I would like to make a 10 or 12" with a sleeve. I haven't made a foam grip yet. Will slip rings hold and be effective on a grip covered with a sleeve and coated? If it will work.....then.....how would you suggest getting the slip rings on? Re: Slip Rings on Foam Grip with Sleeve

Yes. But, either the grip or the rings need to "give" just a bit. This is why aluminum rings are most often used on cork and more flexible nylon rings use on hard carbon TN type grips. Something in the system needs to give.
I assume you saw the TN carbon skin grip in the Volume 10 #6 RodMaker? The front is flared, which takes care of that ring. The back is straight and the rings slipped on from that end. Then, a gentle tapered mushroom type butt grip is affixed which then takes care of the rings being able to slip off that way. .......... Re: Slip Rings on Foam Grip with Sleeve

Tom,
Thank you. I know I read the issue. But must have not noticed what you pointed out. Thank you for assuring me it will work and the difference between types of ring material. That is all the information I needed. Mucho thanks. Not that it would be the end of the world if I just tried....and messed one up. But asking is more fun. Also thanks for pointing me toward the article. I will fetch it. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
