fighting butt hardware for custom?

I'm sure it exists, but I don't know where to look. I'm wanting to find the hardware for a fighting butt that I can glue up & turn the cork/eva to match my own grip. I'm not much for the natural cork butts I see for sale. Or, if you have a simple way to attach a permanent fighting butt, I'm certainly open to that as an alternative. I've only done lightweight fly rods thus far and haven't needed a fighting butt.

Sorry for the elementary questions, I'm pretty green in flyrods.

Thanks for any help.

Keith

This page [www.batsonenterprises.com] has the plug and inserts I think your looking for. Fly rod....no? Any of the sponsors on the left that deal in fly components should carry it or something similar.

Keith not sure of your reasons but here are the links to some information that could prove to be very important to you if you are involved in a build of a "blue water" fly rod which may be involved in world record submittals. The fighting butt on such rods was a very hotly contested issue last year and the rules were changed.

If you need assistance you should contact Michael Taylor via a search and link to his email. He covered this area very well at the Blue Water Fly Rod Seminar in High Point last February. R. B. Meiser is also highly qualified to deal with this subject and is a sponsor listed on the left of this page.

Thanks for the info and links, that's exactly what I needed.

Also a special thanks to Bill Stevens.... I got a super informative email from Michael Taylor addressing how to make them.

This place is great!
