Where is the best place to buy a cheap drying motor? Something under $10 that spins at about 5rpm. I have been doing them by hand but its getting a little old. Thanks and happy fishing!!!

If ya have or can find an old microwave oven remove the
turntable motor. Most of those see on that @#$%& site are
the same thing. Also, an old barbecue motor works just fine
although rather noisy.

Microwave. I just pulled one today and it is 3rpm. 110v. With the cord I also scavenged from the oven I'm good to go.

The only difference I see between these and the ones specified for rod building is, well, nothing.

For 15 years I used an old rotisserie motor from a barbecue bought at a garage sale for a few bucks. Just added some PVC fittings and tension screws and there you have it.

If your in a city, find a surplus store.
In Minneapolis, there are several surplus stores that I have been able to fine 6 or 12 rpm motors for about $1 each. These are 110v ac electric timing motors that generally have a 1/4 inch output shaft.

They work very well indeed.

Take care
