Billy Billy I saw you pull 5 threads and I was inspired, to the N, to the E, to the R, to the B, in that meeting it stood with me, my heart felt new, no more was that butt wrap task so dire, no more would my neck,my arms,my shoulders feel fire. I followed that lesson and my work I did admire. Here I link to my wrap sire.

The Nerbs have that effect on people, here's mine [www.rodbuilding.org] . I was looking over Al's shoulder, watching some one that knows what they are doing just makes you want to try it yourself. Those darn Nerbs, now I want to be a thread head. Re: Ode to Billy V.

Henry, lol. I'm glad that you picked up a tip at the LI Gathering. IT does make the process a lot more pleasurable, and it makes you actually want to do teh wraps more. Nothing like spending 8 hours on a wrap one day, and doing the same wrap in 4 hours the next. Before Jesse Buky showed me that method to pull multiple threads, I was close to never doing any more wraps as I couldn't deal with spending so much time on a wrap.
Mark - nice job on the Wood Spider. It' snot hard at all once you sit down and do it once or twice, then see someone else - the light bulb goes on pretty quickly. Re: Ode to Billy V.

I sure would love to see that! Any chance of a quick demo at the West Coast Show? Re: Ode to Billy V.

Bil, unfortuantely travelling via airplane is goign to make that difficult since I will not be set up to do demo's. I'll tell you what - if you have a Plano 3700 box with 1/4" holes drilled above each compartment, and fill it with 5 spools of thread, I will borrow a rodbuilders booth set up with a lathe and show you how I use "The Box". Please remind me at teh show, and when I look at you funny, dont' be scared off - I'm guaranteeing I will forget I told you this, lol. Re: Ode to Billy V.

you have my curiosity about "the box" would love to see a couple pictures or something... :) I just got done doing a fish wrap and I can only do 2 threads along the same line at a time... 3 was causing more time than it was worth. Your tips on here are always appreciated. -Steve Tampa, FL Re: Ode to Billy V.

Mike, GREAT JOB!!! I forgot about that pic. Doesn't show the box in use, but gives you an idea. I didn't do my 18 thread at one time Demo in High Point this year, lol. Re: Ode to Billy V.

My wife is convinced that I ONLY remember something if it's related to rodbuilding or fishing. A lot of benefits to "selective memory"!! Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Ode to Billy V.

Thanks for the picture link Mike.
Billy - Are you just using the box for threads that run together or wrapping different lines simultaneously? Is there something you are using to keep the threads from overlapping each other? I know a demo would be worth 1000 words, but any info you are willing to write would be appreciated. -Steve Tampa, FL Re: Ode to Billy V.

All that and a heck of a lot more is in my book: [northeastrodbuilders.com]
to directly answer your question - each thread I wrap is on a seperate spool, I xfer from a 1oz to mini wood spools, and I have something like 200 Madeira colors, and 800 wood spools (4 for each color). I honestly don't care about overlapping, I only wrap bands which are the same color, so you won't see overlapping once epoxy is applied. It takes some getting used to, but after a coupel of wraps you pick up the knakc and little tricks to make it even easier. Re: Ode to Billy V.

I saw the 18 thread thing, could be a Guiness world record. NERB that types with a bar of Ivory soap in his mouth. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
