There is so much to answer here that without more specifics it would be hard to nail anything down. The Volume 5 #6 issue of RodMaker has a very detailed article on all facets of Stand-Up rods, including the harness types used.

The Rod Maker Tom mentioned is a must have for anyone wanting to build a stand up rod.

Where are you from? If you are from S. CA . I would give Doc Ski a call, if not email him your question. What you are asking would fill a book in its self. But it would help if we knew where you like. That way someone can personally help you.

Curtis take a look at the Super Seekers (Seeker rods link on the left) and find one of the rods that meets your specs and then look to see which blank it's built on. Once you have that I can help with the rest of your questions.

What you are asking will depend ALOT on how you fish. What type rigs do you use? What type leaders do you use? Do you chunk? Do you live bait? Do you troll? Do you cast? Do you standup fish? Do you fight from a chair? What size tackle (reel/mainline) are you using? And the list goes on.

There will be a big difference in a chair rod setup and a standup setup. There will also be a difference between a 'west coast" and "east coast" setup...depending on how you fish.

Without giving more personal information the answers to your question are nothing more than guesses to the unknown.
