System three Silver Tip Epoxy

Has anyone used this for carbon sleeves? I called Fiberglasssupply.com today and they said that this product will be clearer than West 207. I see that it only cost about 12.00 less then West. Just looking for some feed back.

System Three makes a great product. I'd think the odds would be in your favor that it'd work just fine. Not sure it'll be clearer than 207, which is almost perfectly clear over anything but white, but it's worth a try. Again, they make good stuff.

I looked at Silver Tip Epoxy also but the data didn't mention any UV protection. If I recall correctly, UV protection was the reason for using 207.

I just skinned my first grip this evening and waiting for the Resin Research epoxy to cure. I'd guess this is a new enough concept that we're all in the "wingin' it" mode but why I always have to learn the hard way?

I think we're a little beyond the "wingin' it" mode. That was the point of the article - to put us well past that into the realm of something that was proven to work. Obviously there is a still a lot of experimentation to be done with additional concepts that center around this one.

I'd look at the System Three website and see what that epoxy was designed for. Boat exteriors? If so, you're okay. Check their site and see what it has to say about that particular product. Either way, you won't get enough exposure to break down the epoxy although it may turn amber on you, just like most thread finishes do.
