I'm needing some help. I'm looking for a Bass Jiging rod will be using 17lb flourocarbon 3/8-3/4oz jigs
in 20 to 30 feet of water. I have several St. Croix but they are not as sensitive as I would like. I would like a rod in a matte finish. 7'6" in length. Re: rod blanks

Hi William, I may have what you're looking for in a jig rod in the exact specs that you're looking for and at a price that won't break the bank. It's Castaway's XP3 model in a matte black and it only weighs in at 2 .2 ounces. Here is a link to the specs.

William;
My suggestion would be either The Batson RX8+C843 7ft. or RX8+C865 7’2†I’ve been building on the RX8+ blank for the last two years and have been extremely satisfied with them. The finish is also black matt as you wanted IMO worth the expense. Re: rod blanks

William,
You state that you have several St. Croix that are not sensitive enough for your liking. It may help us to know what models you have as St. Croix offers some extremely sensitive blanks in their current line up. Once we know what you are currently working with we will be able to offer up some educated suggestions for your application. I will concur with Steve as the RX8 blanks are very nice, crisp, light as well as very sensitive not to mention they are offered by a TOP NOTCH company! thanks, Tom Kaufmann GySgt USMC Re: rod blanks

William,
I would check with Lance at Swampland on the Castaway XP3 blanks and also look at the exposed blank reel seat that they offer. These guys are great to work with. [swamplandtackle.com] Lynn Williams Re: rod blanks

I know of only one blank in that length with those specs...
It a rouge blank... ROGMB764* 7'6" 1 6.5 0.590 8-17 1/4 3/4 MED-HVY FAST Other than that I would settle on a loomis MB GLX or IMX in a 7' model and maybe extend it. OR just switch to braided fishing line and flouro leader and be able to feel the fish breathing on the line. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/15/2008 02:49PM by Henry Engle. Re: rod blanks

How about a 7'2" blank ... IF you absolutely have to get that extra 4", do an extension. Lamiglas XMG LMB864. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
