Off-Axis Butt Wrap

I am building a 6 wt fly rod, and, somehow, managed to put my diamond butt wrap off-axis. I am considering altering the recessed hood, by using a rotary tool to extend the opening, so that the reel can sit on the center axis of the wrap. Is there a problem with this idea? Is there a better fix?
Thanks for any replies. Re: Off-Axis Butt Wrap

PErsonally, I wouldn't change teh performance of a rod to compensate with an artistic error I made. I assume you either put the reel seat on teh spine, or on teh straightest axis (anotehr subject). If the wrap was done off axis - I would eiither cut it off, or live with it. IT will not hurt how the rod fish's one bit, whereas dinking around like you are contemplating might leave teh reel loose and wobbly, the guides off spine or the blank not in a striaght plane Re: Off-Axis Butt Wrap

Yeah, it didn't seem like a great idea to me either. I looked at that wrap about 500 times before I put the PG on it, and it looked like it was right on. It's probably time for me to admit that I need to get glasses. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
