I got an inquirey to replicate a shimano bull whip but cant find any spec info around. Does anyone by chance have this information on this line of rods. My customer wants it for a shimano 4ooo spin reel to catch spanish macks and blues with from boat and jetti. I am guessing it is around 7-8 feet long. Any info is appreciated and thank you in advance. I did try to go to shimanos web site but there having server errors. Jason Kesckes. Aint no fish'n like bass fish'n Re: Shimano bullwhip

there was a series of these rods, bullwhip fightin' rods.
I'm not sure about all models, but the ligher models that I was familiar with had an intersting taper. the rod was nearly the size of the handle at the butt, but tapered down to "normal" within 18" or so of the handle. Re: Shimano bullwhip

The reason that they want one duplicated is that they are ... 1) hard to find and; 2) expensive when you do.
Like Josh said, they have a monster sized butt with rubber grips - everything about them was different. This is going to be one project that you aren't going to be able to "whip" ... Re: Shimano bullwhip

Working with the article on making your own carbon fiber, foam core handles, you can easily replicate one of these rods at least insofar as how it looks. In the end, you may be able to better it on the performance front as well.

The closest thing now that I've seen to that old design is the Airrus Traditions rods. In no way close as far as the grip and reelseat go and the swell wasn't as fast. I had some of the SpeedMasters which were a similar design till recently, they were some of the easiest rods to teach a person how to use a casting reel I have found. Re: Shimano bullwhip

I have a Shimano "Fightin Rod" at home which is the same rod in a casting version (I think). Call me tonight at home around 9pm (eastern) and I will give you some dimensions and help you in any way I can. I can also take some pictures and send them to you if you like.
