Phil,
Forecast Spey blanks only come in Dark Blue. They are a blend of RX6(33 million modulus) and RX7(43million modulus) graphite. Rainshadow Spey blanks come in matte clear and are a blend of RX6, RX7 & Rx8 graphites. I don't have the modulus on the RX8 graphite but I would assume it would be in the 50 million range because of the RX8's fast action. Call Batson's if you need more info, they are nice people to talk to and quite knowledgeable. Lynn Re: forecast blanks spey

Phil,
I built the Forecast (blue)13 foot 7/8 lkit ast year. The Forecast is a bit slower, med fast, than the Rainshadow. Which is good for me as I am continuing to learn with it, and I like to feel it load. I think you will like either one of the blanks from Batson and the complete kit that I got was a really good value. Looks sharp with Mettalic Blue wraps... Good luck with whatever you decide... The Batson are traditional actions, more toward UK action than Scandinavian in action IMO. Re: forecast blanks spey

I am quite lucky I have a few spey rods all ready I have diawa cf-98 15 foot and mid range bruce and walker hex on a 13 foot spey. The cf-98 has had a few 30lbs plus fish on it but is quite heavy by todays standards. I am looking at replacing the cf-98 with the forcast.
at the current price for some of the forecast kits $130 inc cork handles fittings and rings it appears to good to pass up. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
