I have started a feather inlay using permagloss. I have now decided I want to add another feather. How long do I have to wait before I can add this one.? It has been a couple of hours since I did the first two.
Lordy lordy, but that stuff is strong. I work in a small extra bedroom and wonder if I can switch to something else like color lock for the next feathers? As always thanks a bunch. Tom Church Re: Permagloss

Tom,
Pat Vinzant sent me his tutorial on mounting snake skins to a rod blank. He reccomends Color Lock for the adhesive properties. I used it to do a skin mount and it works exactly the way he said it would. Based on this, I would say that Color Lock would be an awesome alernative for that application. Bill in WV Re: Permagloss

Personally, I always use CP. Permagloss leaves you NO room for error (besides making you goofy!). Wit CP, if you screw up or don't like it, just get it wet and re do it. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Permagloss

You can add the extra feather with the Permagloss now.
Since putting out a DVD on feathers (using CP), I've found that if the Permagloss gets setting up while doing the inlays, just brush on another brushing and it will go back to it's former liquid state, allowing you to move the suspect feather around some more. I didn't know that previously... Putter Williston, ND Re: Permagloss

Question? I haven't used PG but does it turn the feathers dark like it does with thread? Some of the pix I've seen, the feathers look awfully dark whereas the ones I do with CP look much brighter and seem to pop out more. Am I imagining this?? Thanks Putter, I also assume I can coat this with threadmaster now that I have set it with PG? Also, where can I get that CD you mentioned?
Thanks Tom Re: Permagloss

Tom, Since no one else has mentioned it, I will.
If you are working in an enclosed space, you need to open windows to get airflow through. I would also recommend a window fan to "suck" air out through the window. Perma Gloss ought not be workd with in an enclosed space. As Mike Barkley said, you don't want to go goofy or worse. Mike Blomme Re: Permagloss

Working with PermaGloss reminds me of the old days when I worked in my bedroom building model planes with Testor's glue.
And that's why I am like I am. Uncle Russ Calico Creek Rods Re: Permagloss

Russ,
That's sooo funny, LOL. When I graduated from High School, I worked at a local department store. We ended up having to put the Testor's glue in a locking cabinet, because the local "Huffers" would steal every tube we had. I know it's off topic, but your post above brought back that memory I had to share. Bill in WV Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
