Dremel tool works best for me. Tape the area where you want to cut it off and then use one of their cut-off wheels. Re: trimming up a reel seat

i turn mine on a wood lathe, lock the hood up tight and taoe it off so it doesnt move, then attack it with 1 of my wood working lathe tools to get a nice clean cut. HOTRODS - Perrie Thomas Custom Rods [www.perrieshotrods.com] Re: trimming up a reel seat

you could definatly try...i have tried using a hacksaw blade on the lathe, but it tneds to jump out of place easy, so i switched to the bevel blade... Re: trimming up a reel seat

MAsking tape a few turns to be used as a staightedge. Fine tooth saw (I used asn Exacto Miter saw). Make a cut, turn 45 degrees, cut, turn, cut turn. 3 minutes later you'll be done.
I use a bandsaw now, bu tbefor ethat I'd have saw all my seats and never had a problem. Re: trimming up a reel seat

That was a good suggestion Billy. I use the tape and a drimel cut off wheel. then fine tune it with a file.
