Quick Slip Wing Nuts

A few years ago in RodMaker Magazine there was a mention about quick slip wing nuts for making a cork compression unit. Any help finding them would be appreciated. NOONE around here (Eastern NC) seems to know what I am talking about.
Thanks, Rick

McMaster-Carr has them for sure. Buddy Owens put me onto them. I'd have to check with them for the mechanical name, but I seem to recall they're called Quick-slip or Quick-adjust nuts. Something like that. You cock them to one side and they'll slide freely on any threaded rod. Set them back perpindicular and they function like regular nuts.

I checked McMaster-Carr and could not find them by using quick-slip or quick-adjust

These would work great on 1/4 or 5/16" threaded rod [www.rockler.com]

According to Buddy, McMaster-Carr sells them under the name of "quick acting nut/knob."

That's about all I can offer you. Hope that's the right name.

I found them from McMaster-Carr. They are on page 2158 and are called "Steel Fast Lock". Price is $3.74 each. Ordered two Thanks for all the effort of each one in helping me find these.
